Harry - 10th House
The tenth house represents our status and activity in the world. The 10th house in this chart has 5 indicators supporting prosperity and only 2 for annihilation.
10.1 Person’s Life Experience
Prince Harry has been famous since the day he was born. His status and role came with his birth. He has worked all his life, first in the military and then for charities and the royal family. He is not known as the lazy or escapist prince, which might be expected as the ‘spare’ heir. (Averaging in 2017 and 2018 equal with Prince William and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall)
10.2 Sign
The tenth house of this chart is taking place in Libra. Libra is an active air sign. It is rajasic, has 2 feet and is of medium build. It is a kama sign and is of the vata dosha.
Libra housing Harry’s 10th sign can be seen in his level of activity around his career. He was a working royal until 2020 and attending events in a royal capacity at home and abroad all year round. This reflects Libra’s active, rajasic and vata nature.
10.3 Planet
Venus is a gentle, wet, female planet that has both water and air element. It is a karaka for diplomacy.
The rajasic, airy qualities of Venus have combined with Libra sign to keep Harry busy and active in his house of work. The gentle, feminine nature of Venus predisposes Harry to be passive and receptive concerning his career path allowing the stronger 9th house and 9th house lord (3rd in Shad bala) to take priority.
10.4 Planets in the House
10.4.1 Venus
Venus is in Own Home dignity in this chart. It is 6th in Shad bala (being particularly low in Dig bala). It is Exalted in the D9 and D10 charts and in good dignity in the other first seven varga charts. The house is receiving rasi aspect from the Moon and Rahu, suggesting the synergy of both conscious and unconscious emotional desires. This might explain the attraction between Harry and Meghan (Venus a karaka for wife). “Harry was apparently ‘in a trance’ after meeting his future wife … ‘almost immediately they were obsessed with each other.’” (Roberts 2020). Prince William and others reportedly felt concerned about how quickly the relationship progressed to the marriage proposal (Cliff 2020).
10.5 Bhava Yogas
10.5.1 Ascendant Yogas
Venus links work and legacy for a Capricorn ascendant. This has the potential to strain the energy between one’s work obligations and one’s offspring. Luckily, as Venus is gentle and moist, it will look for ways to bring grace, harmony and ease to this situation. In Harry’s life, the tension between creating his own legacy and being a working royal has been visible for a long time (see previous Harry blog posts - section 1.2, 11.2). In his recent split from the royal family, he made it clear that he wanted to continue doing both roles (husband/father and member of the royal family) (BBC 2020) and was surprised that a compromise could not be reached. This reflects Venus’s diplomacy approach where it is natural to assume that all parties can agree. It also shows the potential weakness of having a planet in Own Home dignity because the planetary ruler lacks insight into the perspective of other planetary rulers.
10.5.2 10th in the 10th
This yoga indicates fame and is especially emphasised in this chart as the planet is in Own Home dignity. It also shows that the person’s work will be honoured and preserved through time. Having the 10th lord in the 10th house can strain the balance between personal life and work life. Harry was able to devote himself to being a working royal until the birth of his first child. This change in his responsibilities provoked a rupture in his role and demonstrated that Venus was no longer able to surrender priority to the 9th house lord of tradition and duty. The announcement of his intention to balance his role as father and working royal was published on his Instagram on 8 January 2020. The dasa lords active on that day were Ra/Ve/Sa/Ke/Sa. It is notable that, apart from Venus (the lord in question), there were only separative influences.
