Harry - 2nd House
Can having the 2nd lord in the 11th house make you wealthy? And how do you become a famous public speaker when Saturn rules your 2nd house?1? Find out all this in more as we explore the 2nd house of Prince Harry.
2 Second House
The second house represents a person’s financial security and their ability to meet their responsibilities. It can also relate to speech, grandparents and the person’s immediate family. The second house in this chart has 2 indicators for prosperity and 3 for annihilation. It is being Rasi aspected by benefic Venus and its lord is young. However, the lord is also asleep, not aspecting this house and is with Ketu. The low neutral prosperity and annihilation score points to this house being drama-free for this person.
2.1 Person’s Life Experience
Prince Harry’s financial resources have been secure since birth due to his immediate family (Prince Charles’s income from the Duchy of Cornwall) and grandparent (the Queen, funded through private wealth and the Sovereign Grant). Harry is required to speak as part of his work. While he is not known as a particularly dazzling public speaker, he has increased his success in this area over time and developed his own rapport with audiences by being himself and, for example, insisting on having himself introduce as just ‘Harry’ (Rodriguez 2020).
2.2 Sign
The second house of this chart is taking place in Aquarius. Aquarius is a fixed, air sign. It is associated with pots, lakes and silos, which are all places that store resources for the community.
Harry’s resources are secure as reflected by this fixed sign. The money he has access to comes from people contributing to the Sovereign Grant (via taxation) and to the Duchy of Cornwall (rents etc.). Both of these sources demonstrate Aquarius’s nature to pool resources which distribute wealth.
Aquarius is also a ‘humanitarian’ sign and Harry often speaks in public about humanitarian causes such as the environment and climate change, HIV/AIDS, clearing of land mines, mental health and more. (Wikipedia)
2.3 Planet
The second house of this chart is ruled by Saturn. As discussed in Section 1.3, Saturn is cruel, tamasic, dry and of the air and earth element. It is a karaka for time, discipline, endurance and for success through hard work.
When analysing Harry’s success as a public speaker, it is clear that this is a skill that has taken time to develop and bring success. This is expected when an area of life is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is the slowest moving of the planets and it takes time to bear its fruits. Saturn is also dry by nature and this makes public speaking harder. It can make the mouth of the speaker dry and it can make their words harsh, sparse and austere. As a karaka for fear, Saturn can also create stage-fright. This can be overcome by playing to Saturn’s strengths, such as a dry sense of humour and adopting an authentic and natural persona. As detailed in section 2, the house is Rasi Aspected by Venus indicating that beautiful women will provide some grace in the area of public speaking and this can be seen in his mother and his wife helping with his ability to communicate (O'Rourke n.d.). This rasi aspect also accounts for Prince Harry’s diplomacy in his public speaking. While he has had P.R. gaffes, they have not come from the things he has said (unlike his father or grandfather).
2.4 Bhava Yogas
2.4.1 Ascendant Yogas
As discussed in section 1.5.1, Saturn rules both the 1st and 2nd house. This links the person’s life with their responsibilities. This combination can only happen for a Capricorn Ascendant, making them serious and driven. This creates a life path that is determined and will take time (because of Saturn) to be successful but the person will get there in the end although it might be a long, hard road.
2.4.2 2nd in the 11th
This yoga links two financial houses and this is certainly a person who has be born in to great financial wealth. It links resources with older siblings (his older brother will be king) and influential people as well as with grandparents. This yoga needs to considered with the fact that Ketu is conjunct Saturn (to be explored in a coming post!).
