Analysing a chart by house shows the many interconnected indicators present.  When the same indicators gain frequency in a particular area, there is more certainty that they will manifest in the person’s life.  In this chart, the following themes have appeared repeatedly:

13.1        Personal life path versus duty

Perhaps the most striking repeated pattern in this chart is the tension between Prince Harry’s own life path and the role he was born into.  Being born as a ‘spare’ is quite challenging to one’s right to one’s own life.  Contributing indicators are:

  • the ascendant lord being conjunct with Ketu,

  • Jupiter the lord of the 12th in 1st house,

  • Mars the lord of inner contentment in the 12th house of sacrifice,

  • Venus ruling both personal legacy and work causing strain between these two areas of life,

  • Venus having low dig bala which hampers its ability to direct Prince Harry to higher fulfilment in 5th and 10th house affairs,

  • Venus not being the dasa lord until 2083,

  • the tension between Mars ruling personal happiness and the elder sibling,

  • Rahu and Ketu axis that is encouraging the person towards creating their own legacy,

  • Mercury ruling both 6th and 9th houses causing a person to struggle with their culture, and finally,

  • by the strength of the lord of tradition and culture, an Exalted Mercury in the 9th house of tradition.

All these factors have made it difficult for Prince Harry to hear his own calling.

13.2        Loss / Altruism

Prince Harry’s life is marked by the loss of his mother.  This can be seen in Saturn being the ascendant lord, having the 12th lord on the ascendant and by the lord of happiness being in the 12th house.  These indicators also all emphasis altruism in the life path..

13.3        Becoming blocked emotionally

Following the loss of his mother, Harry suffered emotionally but was unable to process the experience and decided to block his feelings.  This suffering was so intense for him that, once healed, he became a vocal advocate for mental health issues.

Several indicators contributed to this.  First, Jupiter is Debilitated in a sign of Saturn creating challenging circumstances for a person’s sense of hope.  Saturn, the ascendant lord is being starved by the Moon and Mars causing the ego to identify and obsess on its suffering.  The Moon, which represents emotions, is isolated in space without support on either side.  Mars, the planet of action and, in this chart, inner happiness is being starved by Mercury preventing it from following its instincts.  This lord of happiness is also in the 12th house of loss.  The Sun is the 8th lord in the 9th house causing any negative thinking to attract even more negativity.  The first lord is in the natural 8th sign of the zodiac encouraging it to hide in Scorpio’s caves.  But Ketu is also there preventing fulfilment.  Finally, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Venus are all suffering very low Ayana bala which makes them unable to provide support in handling conflict and adversity.

All these factors made it hard for Harry to process his emotions.

13.4        Obstruction to action

Several indicators obstruct Harry’s ability to take action.  Mars is the weakest planet in Shad bala, is in the 12th house and significantly starved by Mercury.  Also, the 10th lord of action has low Dig bala and will not be dasa lord for this chart until 2083 and so has not yet strongly activated the directive 5th and 10th houses.

13.5        The importance of the Sun and the Moon

In this chart, the Sun and Moon play crucial roles in the effectiveness of this person’s experience.

13.5.1        The Moon

The Moon is in its Moolatrikona sign, the strongest planet in Shad bala, a very positive yoga score and not being attacked by any planet.  And yet, Harry’s mind and emotions have caused much suffering.  This demonstrates that an isolated Moon, conjunct Rahu and combined with a significant trauma during Moon dasa can impact even the strongest Moon.

13.5.2        The Sun

Of all the bhava yogas explored in this paper, “Attracts negative circumstances through one’s own negative thinking” (Kurczak and Fish 2014) is the indicator that speaks most profoundly of the importance of this person choosing positivity in their life.  The therapy that Prince Harry undertook allowed him to access the positivity of his Sun and this became a key to begin the process of defining his own life purpose (Sun is in the 9th house).

13.6        The importance of Marriage and Family

The decision to contribute positively through his role in the royal family led to attracting a wife and starting a family.  This wife, (a Cancer Ascendant, providing all the ingredients missing for a Capricorn Ascendant) and child, (a Taurus Sun and Ascendant, where Harry’s Moon is isolated), provided the courage to embrace his Rahu and strike out on his own.  With so many factors obstructing action and following one’s own path, it is understandable that some of the force for action had to come from outside the chart.  Importantly, this could only come about because of the work done by Harry to release his emotions and choose positivity.

Summarising the major themes found in this paper demonstrates which indicators occurred more frequently and clearly shows that the main factor that manifested concrete experiences in Prince Harry’s life was the confluence of repeated indicators.
